The LFGB Food and Feed Code has become effective in Germany as a federal law in 2005 under consideration of the specifications by the EU base ordinance 178/2002 and takes over mainly the regulations of the Food & Commodities Law (LMBG). It forms the basis of the German food law with the priority of the safety of food since then. However, other commodities, feedstuff and cosmetics, are also included.
 

Is the limitation of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. It is summarized in the EU guideline 2002/95/EU with the goal to exclude problematic components from the production.

At the RoHS certification of a product these restrictions are taken into account during the production process.
 

For many products sold in the EU the CE identification and a conformity certificate is obligatory. By this identification the manufacturer expresses that all prevailing guidelines are implemented and the products therefore have admission to the free trade on the market.

The CE identification of a product primarily is a supplier’s statement; it tells you that the supplier has his own responsibility regarding the product’s guidelines. The CE identification of certain products doesn't refer to approval, certification, is no quality sign, and doesn't serve as an instrument for the marketing of a product.
 

The SGS is based on three main areas.
Inspection:
In this areas the quality and quantity is being evaluated and checked. These tests can be made during the production process, after production, or even during loading of the products and getting it ready for shipment.
Testing:
In this area the quality of the products is being tested in conformity with the existing safety regulations and requirements, as well as the health standards of the products in co-operation with the customer. There are laboratories and other facilities available to conduct these testings.
Certification:
SGS will certify the products according to existing laws and regulations like ISO 9000 or specific customer requests. Besides SGS developed their own standards to certify the products.
